Andrew Smith
Managing Director
British Lithium discovered a world-class lithium deposit in the UK and Andrew ran hands-on, the exploration and evaluation work, developing innovative (now patented) technology for the commercial beneficiation of lithium mica, which had never been previously achieved. In 2023 Andrew ran a due diligence process which resulted in a multinational partner, IMERYS, acquiring an 80% interest in the project. IMERYS is a world leading supplier of speciality minerals for industry and has committed to complete the feasibility and build the full-scale project incorporating Andrew’s technical innovations.
A Bachelor of Engineering & Bachelor of Commerce with First Class Honours from Sydney University underpins Andrew’s formal education. He has also studied at the National Institute of Space in Virginia.
Andrew Grove
Non-Executive Director
Andrew joined Zenith Minerals on 14 December 2023 and brings a wealth of corporate and technical expertise, as well as substantial project finance, risk management and capital markets experience to the company.
With over 30 years’ experience in the global resources sector he most recently, as Managing Director at Chesser Resources Limited, elicited a successful takeover by Fortuna Silver Mines with a 95% premium. Prior to that he was Group General Manager Business Development and Investor Relations at Perseus Mining Limited. Andrew also spent 14 years at Macquarie Bank as Division Director – Mining Finance and Risk Management. He held technical roles at Areva NC, Mines and Resources Australia and at Acacia Resources Limited and holds a Masters in Mineral Economics and a Bachelor of Engineering (Minerals Exploration and Mining Geology).
Geoff Rogers
Non-Executive Director
Appointed to the Board of Zenith Minerals Limited on 20th March 2023 as an Independent Non-Executive Director, Geoff has been involved in the resources sector for over 30 years. As a former partner at international law firm, King & Wood Mallesons, he gathered a wealth of legal experience particularly in mergers and acquisitions and the resources area. He has been involved with significant project acquisitions and project financing for many Australian and international mining and mineral development companies. He has also previously served as in-house legal counsel for an ASX listed mining company and presently manages his own sole practice advising exploration and mining companies.
Geoff’s legal background and specific experience in exploration, mineral project development and mining will add significantly to the Board’s skills base. The Zenith Board look forward to working with Geoff and believe that he will be able to make a valuable contribution towards unlocking the potential of the Company’s significant mineral portfolio.
Stanley Allan Macdonald
Non-Executive Director
Stan Macdonald has been associated with the mining and exploration industry for many years, having been instrumental in the formation of numerous ASX listed companies, including Giralia Resources NL, where he was Director for over 23 years. He has served on the board of Zenith Minerals since its foundation in 2007 and is also a Non- Executive Director of Mackerel Metals Limited.
Chris Shanley
Exploration Manager
Chris joined Zenith Minerals Limited on 27th March 2023 as the Company’s Exploration Manager. Graduating with a BSc Hons (Geosciences), Chris holds a Master‘s degree in Economic Geology from CODES/UTAS and has 14 years mineral exploration focused experience in Australia.
He was previously employed as Senior Exploration Geologist at Regis Resources overseeing the exploration program covering the Duketon Greenstone Belt and was Project Exploration Geologist at both Gold Fields’ (Granny Smith Mine) and for Saracen, working in the Laverton and Carosue Dam districts respectively.
Nicholas Ong
Company Secretary
Nicholas brings 18 years’ experience in listing rules compliance and corporate governance. He is experienced in mining project finance, mining and milling contract negotiations, mine CAPEX & OPEX management, and toll treatment reconciliation. Nicholas is a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia and Fellow of Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Australia. He has since worked as a company secretary and director to listed companies.
